FOR, SAN FRANCTSICO. The Union Company's strainer Aorangi, which will initiate tlio new service between New Zealand.- and San Francisco, via Tahiti, is not (says, the Post) taking a very large cargo of produce. Messrs,. Joseph Nathan and Co. are sending a trial shipment of the choicest quality of butter in order to make a good impression on the market. The consignment amounts to 50 boxes of 561b. each. This will be supplemented at Auckland by 150 boxes of butter shipped by local firms. The Wellington Meat Export Company is sending 439 carcases of the primest mutton. At Aueklnad 500 sides of bacon will be, put on board. The duty on the butter in the United States will be 3d. per polind, on the mutton 3d. per pound if admitted as fresh, and if admitted as preserved meat 25 per cent, ad valorem. The bacon will pay a duty of 2d. per pound. It was understood that Mr. Kidman, the well-known Australian shipper of frozen produce to the Pacific Coast, had taken the greater part of the Aorangi's refrigerated space, but this arrangement has fallen through. The Aorangi will await the arrival of the Sydney boat to-morrow n.r 50 tons of general cargo, which she was to have loaded there for Tahiti. From Wellington the Aorangi takes 12 first-class passengers, 11 secondclass, and 10 steerage to San Francisco.
