SHOCKING FATALITY.

WAIHI, Last Night

Matthew Berryman, a miner engaged at tho Waihi mine, was literally smashed to pieces this afternoon by falling out of a cage, at No. 2 shaft. Jne unfortunate man had previously cut his hand badly in the workings, and it is assumed that when the cage had nearly reached the surface he fainted and fell off the cage, and was precipitated to the bottom of the shaft, a distance of over 900 feet. The deceased was 25 years of age and unmarried.
