On Sunday night, at about 9.20, the nightwatchman observed a light burning in a room adjoining the bottle store, and 6n opening the door of a room near by to investigate, found the apartment full of gas, and young Ellison's dead body lying on the floor. Strange to say, Inspector Ellison himself wa< just then passing the brewery in the course of an official round, when a man rushed out and called for a doctor.! he inspector went in, only to find his'son lying lifeless on the floor.
