CRICKET.

WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the . Management Committee of the Wairarapa Cricket Association was hold in the "Age" building on Saturday evening. There were, present Messrs. Smart and Hart (Carterton), Redmond and Moorhousc (Masterton), Collinge and Iveson (Carlton), Moersch and Bennett (St. Matthew's), and E. Welch (Opaki). CORRESPONDENCE. The Nelson Cricket Association wrote in reference to a match with Wairarapa at Masterton between Christmas Day and January 7. It was decided that the Nelson Association be written to stating that January 6 and 7 would be suitable dates from Wairarapa's standpoint.

The same association wrote in reference to playing North v. South Island matches, and suggesting that a fair proportion of country members be included. After considerable discusion it was decided to write to the New Zealand Council and suggest that North v. South Island matches be played between the teams representing country associations in both islands, at the'inost convenient centre, and that the most prominent players be chosen in the North v. South match, open to all associations. The Marlborough Association wrote asking Wairarapa to play at Blenheim on December 25 and 26. It ■was decided to reply that this association would be unable to comply with the request. The New Zealand Council wrote asking what was this association's opinion on the way the Lord Hawke Shield should be allotted, and after the matter being gone into thoroughly it was decided to suggest that balloting be adopted. The council also wrote in reference to the rules governing the Plunket Shield contests, and the secretary was instructed to write that this association was in favour of any association having the option to play for either trophy—the Plunket or Lord Hawke.

GENERAL. The question of school cricket was brought up, and it was decided to write to the headmasters asking them to work up the project. The application of the South Wairarapa Club to join the association j was acceded to on condition that they travelled for their first round matches and played all home matches at Carterton. Tht Opaki Club was also allowed to join the association, all matches being played in Masterton. FIXTURES. The following fixtures were drawn up:—, Senior. October 22 and 29.—Carterton v. Mauricevile, on the school grounds; St. Matthew's A, a bye. November 5 a,ud 12. Maunceville v. St, Matthew's A, on Park; Opaki v. Masterton, on school ground; St, Matthew's B, a bye. November 19 and 26.—Opaki v. St. Matthew's B, on school ground; Masterton v. St. Matthew's A, on Park; Mauriccville, a bye. December 3 and 10.— MauriceviUo v. Masterton, on school grounds; St. Matthew's A v. St, Matthew's B, on Park; Opaki, a bye. December 17 and 14.—St. Matthew's A v. Opaki, on Park; St. Matthews' B v.
