HASTWELL.

The Truant Inspector (Mr Dineon) visited the schools on Friday, and found the attendances very satisfactory. Mr Flemming examined the school on Mondoy and Tuesday, and expressed his approval of the work done. Several children of the local school have entered for the drawing classes at the forthcoming Manawatu Show. The Mauriceville West Minstrels show hire on the 14th inst. Heavy westerly gales, accompanied by heavy rain, have been experienced here during the, last few days, 2.39 inches of rain falling on ' Monday and Tuesday.
