Farmers generally are crying out for rain, the continued absence of ivhich is already causing some an-
xiety. One settler has had a rather
unusual experience «f empty tanks—i very rare occurrence at this time of the year. Docking is proceeding on most oi the surrounding farms and good por;entagos and fine healthy lambs arc
reported on all hands. The To Wharau Rifle Club held a practice last Saturday, when some good shooting was put up. This Club expects to have a strong team ■ompeting at the Fairview meeting this month . Messrs Cadwallader and Reeves, the successful tenderers for tho metalling contracts in the To Wharau district, have already commenced operations. The work to be done will
greatly improve the various roads, .and more especially the Te Wharaui<'lat Point Road, which has been in i very bad state during the past winter months.
Mr and Mrs T. F. York returned :>n Thursday from Wellington, where fchey have been making a short stay. Miss Jsobei McGregor, of "Hikorangi," has just returned from an extended holiday in the north.
Miss McGovern, of Pahiatua, is at present visiting Te Wharau. The friends of Mr M. Wills will be pleased to hear that he has practically recovered from the'effects of his buggy accident last week. Mr Pidgeon, who has heen residing for some time here has left this week for' Napier. ' Mr Opie, County Engineer, paid a visit of inspection to Te Wharau this Week.
