PAHIATUA.
At a meting of the PahiatuaAkitio Agricultural and Pastoral Association, held this week, it was decided to rescind the resolution carried at a previous meeting, appointing a day for holding a ram fair. The printing and advertising in connection with the forthcoming show was left in the hands of the finance committee. It was decided that the conditions of the dairy cow compeition be drawn lip by a committee consisting of Messrs J. B. Westake, T. P. Girdwood, and J. D. Wilson. Mr M. Vance, stationmaster ?;,t Mangatainoka, who has been away on his annual holidays, returned home yesterday. Mr George Wallace, who has been relieving-stationmaster at Pahiatua and Mangatainoka for the past five or six weeks, left by yesterday afternoon's express for Wellington. The Feildiug Athletic Club has decided to change the date of its annual fixture from Boxing Day to Wednesday, January 18th, 1911. This should mean increased support to the Mangatainoka Athletic So- I ciety, which has always had its year- j ly sports meeting on Boxing Day. With a view of attracting keener competition in the hundred yards' handicap, 1 am informed by the secretary of the Society (Mr J. A. Walsh) that the commitee propose tc increase the prize money for that popular event to ten pounds. A meeting to consider the programme will be held on Saturday evening next.
Cws are milking exceptionallv wcll in these parts just now, and the present season promises to be a record one. A number of milking machines are being installed in the district.
