ALLEGED THEFT OF DOGS.
FROM MASTERTON OWNERS. Some little time back Mr John McCrae, of Weraiti, and Mr Duncan McLean, of Tawlianga, reported to the Masterton police that they had lost valuable collie dogs. Enquiries were instituted, and it was reported that dogs answering the description of those which were missing had been traced to the possession of a man near Mr McLean proceeded to Hawera, and identified one of the dogs as his. The man in whose possession the dogs were found was named Baker, and he had previously been employed in the Masterton district. The man was arrested, and was to have been charged with theft at Hawera on Saturday. Mr McCrae's dog was valued at £lO, and that of Mr McLean at £B.
