REGISTRATION OF WOOL BRANDS.
The subject of the registration of wool brands is receiving attantion in most of the pastoral districts of the Dominion, and the hope is expressed that the Minister for Agriculture will this session see his way clear to introduce legislation dealing with the subject. Registration of brands has been found n't only efficacious but necessai'y in the case of dairy produce, and Mr McKenzie's business acumen will doubtless lead him to see that it is equally necessary and advantageous in the case of wool. It would certainly be welcomed by the buyers, and ,as Lr the farmers, not one. of them v»oi.id begrudge the payment of a sr/fil fee to compensate the Agricultural Department for the clerical labo.ir involved in the registration and classification of brands, which' would have to be done from a central office. The subject deserves immediate attention, and the M-i-f-ion should not be allowed to close without legislative authority being obtained for what is a very necessary reform in the conditions imder which one of our chief staple products are handled.
