INDEPENDENT ORDER OF RECHABITES.
The quarterly meeting of the Masterton 1.0.R.. . Tent -Avaa held in the Dominion Hall last evening, Bro. J. Andrews, C.R., presiding, when an interesting discussion took place with regard to the centralising of the sick pay funds of the Order., The principle of consolidation is the one question that is agitating the minds of every Friendly So-, ciety at the present time, and most Societies are adopting the principle of centralising their sick pay funds, and out of 56 1.0. R. Tents in the Central District, 26 have already joined the Central Sick Fund. At. the quarterly meeting of the Christchurch Tent it was unanimously decided to centralise its sick pay funds, the secretary stating that in, all probability Dunedin, Invercargill, Wellington and Nelson would also adopt the principle. The Registrar of Friendly Societies strongly recommends all Lodges to adopt the principle, and is giving every assistance to the District Secretary in the matter. The Masterton Tent is as yet against .the idea,, but the matter will be before the members again when the Agenda Paper for the District Meeting comes up for discussion.
It was decided to hold a, social on the night of Tuesday, October 11th, and invite members of kindred temperance societies of Masterton to be 'present, the social to be held in the Y.M.C.A". Gymnasium Hall.
