A cablegram received last night stated that Queen Alexandra has arrived at Copenhagen.
Messrs R. Brown and F.. H. Waddington, of Masterton, returned last evening from a meeting of Synod nominators held in Wellington, to
nominate a successor to the Rev. H. Watson, for St. Matthew's parish.. A. decision was arrived at, but the name of the appointee is not yet available.
Dr Henry, the well-known evangelist, who' recently visited Masterton, was taken ill at Hastings on Saturdaylast. Late reports show that he is improving.
Mr F. De Lisle, of Masterton, has been accepted as a student for the Congregational Ministry, , and will proceed to Adelaide in February next to begin a six years' course of training—three years in the University, and three years in the Theological College, of. which Dr Bevan is the principal.
Masterton music lovers will be glad to know that Miss Thelma Petersen is to visit Masterton on Wednesday evening next, when 'she will sing at the concert in connection with the opening of the Y.M.C.A. new gymnasium. Miss Petersen's efforts at the ls-st orchestral concert will not readily be forgotten.
Saturday's Taranaki ' Herald, in reporting a sacred concert held at Inglewood on Wednesday evening last says:—Miss Rosalie Handley rendered two numbers from Nichol's Cantata "Day and Night"—"l will lay me down," and "The Lord is my Shepherd," which it is only necessary to say that the tone was perfect, to which was added that fine artistic perception which characterises all of Miss Handley's work. This young lady is under engagement as the vocalist at the concert of the Masterton Orchestral Society on November Sth.
