MASTERTON A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the Genera! Committee ot the Mastertcn A. and P. Association was held on Saturday afternoon, there being present Messis W. Perry (President), H. Morison, D. McGregor, junr., H. J. Dagg. R. J. Dagg, E. C. Perry, W. H. Buick, U. Allen, W. J. Welch, K. Gray, J. P. Perry, W. Cooper, J. M. James, J. D..Cruickshank, 0. C. Cooper, J. G. McKillop, 0. J. Percy, G. C. Summerell, D. Ca&elberg, R. Smith, B. A. Matthews, J. Strang and 1. P. Lett. A letter was read from the Wood ville A. and P. Association; stating that their next annual Show would be held on Janaury 22nd, 1911. FINANCE COMMITTEE.

The report of the Finance Committee, presided over by Mr 0, C. Cooper, was read. This stated that Mr J. B Moodie had been elected chairman for the ensuing year. The Ground Committee were authorised to expend not more than £71)0, over and above the amount already authorised, to complete the work already in | hand It was decided to recommend that the offer of the General Manager of the New Zealand Railways, as embodied in a memo. cfjl3th August, and according to a plan submitted, to construct a siding at Solway at a cost of £4OO, be accepted. The Treasurer submitted a statement of the position, which showed an expenditure since June 30th of £970 18s 9d. The receipts for the same period, including the Solway syndicate's donation of £ISOO lis 9d, amounted to £1767 19s 4d. The balance at date was £624 7s 4d. Accounts amounting to £403 18s lOd were recommended for payment. Messrs G. C. Summerell and J. D. Cruickshank were authorised to sign cheques. The report was adopted.

RAM FAIR SPECIAL COMMITTEE.

The report of the Ram Fair Special Committee, gwhich had been appointed to consider rules and conditions relating to the conduct of the Ram Fair, ' 1911, was reaJ. Clauses 1 to 7 of the 1910 conditions wera agreed to. Clause 8 was altered to read as follows:—"The breeders with the six highest averages for a minimum of ten flock sheep to lead off the catalogue each year in each section in which they have made such highest averages in the previous year. The balance of all vendors' stock to be ballotted for. This rule to apply to each and every breed." Clauses 9 to 21 of the old rules were agreed to. A new rule was added to reads "All sheep U be offered and sold subject to conditions of sale as published in Ram Fair catalogue." Mr 0. C. Cooper explained that in' altering the rules of sale, the committee had in view the offering of the better class of sheep early in the sale, Thiß would be an inducement to buyers to come to the Fair, and would be much fairer to breeders. The system had been tried in Australia, and had worked satisfactorily. After some discussion, the report as presented was adopted.

AGRICULTURAL COMMITTEE.

The report of the Agricultural Committee meeting was read. The Secretary was instructed to write the Fields Instructor re seeds promised. Mr Shaw intimated that MessrsE. Ryan and C. Smith, of Te Ore Ore, were willing to plant an area of six acres in peas of approved quality for experimental purposes, and he (Mi Shaw) would also be prepared with one acre of field beans, instead of the maize as at first arranged.

GROUND COMMITTEE.

The Ground Committee repotted I haviDg met on Saturday morning, Mr W, J. Welch presiding. It was resolved to make a charge of £3 fcr the running of a merry-go-round at the Show. Mr E. Hale offered to provide a suitable'tree, and plant the same at Sol way at the opening of the next Show. It was decided to thank Mr Hale for his offer, which the Committee gladly accepts. The Building Committee was empowered to locate the position to be occupied by the tree. The Chairman reported that the Ground Committee had met on the ground on the 7th inst., and decided to recomend the erection of fifty-five covered in horse stalls, at an approximate cost of

£lO7, extending from the present • building fence between the grounds , and saleyards to the avenue on (he I south side of the grounds; also, the erection of a double row of open horse stalls along the avenue. T..e erection of the stalls was left in the hands of the Building Commit tee, with power to act. The secretary was instructed to invite tenderd for painting buildings, arid to make application to the Borough Council for the use of the road roller for consolidating the ring, It was decided to remove Snell's building from its present position to the north-east corner of the railway reserve, and adjacent tj the road leading to the grounds. The Chairman was authorissd to have the land recently vrcited by Mr J. Snell ploughed and sown down in grass. The report of the Committee was . adopted. NEW MEMBERS. The following new members were elected:-Proposed by Mr D. Caselberg: Messrs E. G. Eton, J. Pryor, F. H. Sutton, S. H. Ralph and W. Jago. Proposed by the Secretary: Mrs K. Wrigley and Messrs Smith and Sons.
