MASTERTON TRUST LANDS TRUST.

MONTHLY MEETING.

The monthly meeting of the Masterton Trust Lands Trustees was held last evening, there being present — Messrs T. Wagg (Chairman), R. Krahagen, T. B. Michell, Orlando Pragnell, H. C. Robinson, D. Casel berg, E. G. Eton and W. H. Jackson,

The Secretary of the Masterton Municipal Brass Band wrote, stating that it was th2 intention of the Band to play in the Park and in Queen Street.

The Treasurer reported the amounts received in rents, etc., since the beginning of the financial year to be £473 6s 2d. The payments to date had amounted to £349 6s. The amount received to date on the scholarship account had been £75 12s 6d, and the expenditure to £l6O. The amount received from the Town Hall was £IBB Bs, and the expenditure on this "account had amounted to £B4 183. The credit and balance in the bank at date was £197 3s Ud. The Minister for Justice notified that the section in front of the police station would not be available until the new Courthouse was erected.

The Minister foi Railways and Mr A. W. Hogg, M.P., acknowledged receipt of the Trust's letters iri reference to the railway timetable. The latter stated that he had interviewed the Minister on the subject. A letter was read from Mr Bert Royle, stating that he had booked 1 the Town Hall for November 25th, j I and had transferred that date to Mr C. McMahon, for a picture show-. secured the Hall, be insisted upon the right being transferred to Mr McMahon.—The Secretary stated that the Hall was booked for the production of "The Brass Bottle," and Dot for a pictare show. -The actiou of the secretary in informing Mr Royle that the Hall could not be booked tojjhim for pictures was confirmed. Mr W. S. Claughton applied for a rebate of the rent of the Town Hall on account of the sacred concert recently held.—On the motion of Mr Eton, it was decided to make the rebate asked for. Messrs Fly and Young wrote,

complaining of the fdangerous state of the approaches to the Town Hall. They stated that they had suffered damage to their carrying plant and horses owing to the state of these -approaches.—On the motion of Mr Pragnell, it was decided to advise Messrs Fly and Young to communicate with tha Borough Council on the subject. The Secretary stated that the committee appointed to deal with the subject had accepted the tender of Messrs Prentice and Son for batten fencing around a property in Queen Street at £5 7s 6d. —The action of the sub-committee was approved. The sub-committee's report conJ cerning the origin of the fire in the new block of buildings in Queen Street was adopted. The question of installing the electric light in the Town Hall waa mentioned. The secretary stated that he had [made enquiries from Wellington firms concerning the cost of electric installation, but he had so far received no reply. A sub-committee appointed to deal with the matter, recommended that if Mr Ewington surrender his present lease he be gven a new lease of Town Acre 87 for a term of twentyone years, on the Glasgow lease system, for £2B per year, provided that he erects a building to the value of £6OO within two years and" protects the river bank.—After some discassion, the report was adopted. Accounts amounting to £44 3s were pasaed for payment,!
