FOUND WANTING.
CROWN LAW OFFICER APOLOGISES.
When the Supreme Court resumed in Masterton yesterday morning, and Mr H. H. Ostler, the Crown Law Officer (who failed to attend at the sitting on Monday), put in an appearance, His Honor Mr Justice Edwards remarked, "You were found wanting' yesterday, Mr Ostler ; how's, that ?" ' / . Mr Ostler : I must apologise to' the Court. I understood from your Honor that perhaps this case would not be reached on the first day of the Court's sitting. His Honor : You must not take notice of my "perhapses." It is the duty of counsel to be present when their case is called on.
Mr Ostler : I really must apologise, but I did not think your Honor would be inconvenienced. His Honor : As it happened, I intended returning to Wellington by this morning's train. Such a thin°must not occur again. The other Judges of the Court would not I am sure, allow the thing any more than I do. You owe an apology to the Court. Counsel must remember hat they must be prepared to o-o on with their case whenever It may be called.
