Mr Justice Edwards left Maßterton on his return to Wellington yes terday afternoon.
Among the recent visitors to the* New Zealand Pavilion of the AngfoJapanese Exhibition at Shepherd's Bush, London, was Mr A. Be tide, of Lansdowne, Masterton.
Mr S. J. .Furness, proprietor of the Blenheim Express, is about to retire from active newspaper work. He is handing over the control of the business to his sons, Messrs R. P. and 6. Furness.
The death is reported from Timroto (Hawke's Bay) of Mr D. Whyte, a very old and respected settler. Deceased was father of the Rev. Alex. Whyte, of the Presbyterian Church.
Mr H. Yates, of the Mastertoastaff of Messrs Dalgety and Cc, Ltd., underwent an operation for appendicitis yesterday. His ninny friends will be pleased to learn that he is progressing as well as <&n be expected under the circumstances.
The death is recorded of Mr Walter I. Sykes, the well-known dentist of Gisborne. Deceased arrived at Auckland in 1876, and was some years asbciated with Dr. M'Lean, .of that city. He commence*d practice of his profession at Gisborne ift 1891. .
