NEWSPAPERS CEASE PRINTING.

Received Last Night, 11.5 o'clock. MADRID, September 5.

In sympathy with the strikers at Bilbao, the Labour Solidarity Committee has ordered a general strike at Barcelona.

Members of the Commitee visited the printing offices in force, and ordered the stoppage of the newspapers, which are not appearing;.

Apropos the report that the:lnternational Transpnrt Workers' federation had agreed to call an; JBsarnationai shipping strike, Mjr J. Havetock Wilson, president qf! t|e National Sailors and Firemen's Union, who. organised the move ment, was interviewed at South Shields. He said that meetings had been arranged at all the ports of Great Britam, the Continent, and Australia. At these meetings the men would be asked if they were prepared to quit their ships at a given signal. The meetings will be open to unionists and non-unionists.

The workmen employed by the Cambrian Combine at Rhondda Valley, Wales, have resolved to keep idle two pits aa a protest against the dismissal of another workman. Another pit nas further resolved to strike without notice. I Ten thousand men are affected.
