CARTERTON.

The stewards ol the TaratahiCarterton Racing Club met on Saturday afternoon, and passed the programme for the November meeting. The total amount of stakes is £1235. The skating season in Cartertun is to conclude in a fortnight's time, when a grand carnival will be held. Mr T. J. Rathbone timber merchant, is having additions made to his sawmill, in order to instal the cheese crate and box-making plant he recently purchased. Mr J. McLeod, our local tinsmith, is at present busy making cheese vats. So far this season nineteen have been manufactured, and more are under construction. Messrs Arcus and Sons do the wood work.

Mr G. Lennox, V.5.1., veterinary surgeon, haa commenced the practice of his profession here.
