PROPOSED LEGISLATION.

The Animah Piotection Amendment Bill, introduced in Parliament by the Hon, D. Buddo, has been circulated. It proposes to absolutely prohibit the use of cylinders for duck or other game shooting, godwits excepted, from the present provisions relating to close seasons for native game. Power is to be given to the Minister to grant permission to any person to hold native game lor a longer period than seven days after the end of the shooting aeasoD, but such permission will not authorise the killing of any native game after the season ends. The authority to take acclimatised animals or birds for distribution in some other country is to be extended to include native game. Power is given to tti3 Minister to authorise, under such conditions fit, the introduction of animals into New Zealand for the purpose of exhibition only, whether in a zoological garden or a travelling menagerie.
