DR. COLLINS' PROPOSAL.

Dr. | Collins' motion for fmther legislation to ensure a pure, milk supply was continued by the Hon. Mr Luke, who urged that further information should be given to mothers as to the importance of pure milk as an infantile diet. The Hon. W. W. McCardle pointed out the difficulty of keeping milking machinery clean." as it was made of rubber which would not stand the necessary heat for purification. There should be a thorough examination of milk at a central depot, and »n officer snould be employed to see that it was delivered to people in a pure condition. The Hons. Sinclair and Samuel averred that the present law was sufficient if properly administered. The Hon. Anstey said there was nothing to show that the existing •'legislation was defective. The Hons. Baillie and Loughnan also spoke on the motion, and the debate was adjourned.
