PURE MILK.
The Hon. Dr Collins is not satisfied with the milk supply of the cities, and wishes legislation passed to deal w'fth the subject. The quality of the milk retailed to the consumer in the city is certainly not what it should be. There are strong grounds for the suspicion that it is adulterated in one form or another, and that it is I not as wholesome as the milk supplied in the country. The Health Act, however, seems to provide all the power .that is necessary to .deal with impure food. Loca:l authorities may,, if they choose, prohibit the sale of any milk or other article of food which does not come up to the standard. The object of Dr Collins may possibly be achieved by his having drawn attention to the matter
