The monthly meeting of' the Wellington Education sfioard was held yesterday, there Jbeini? presentMessrs Lee, kebbell, Hogg; Elder, Aitken, Buchanan, Shield, Allan jndVile. Mr R. Lee was re-elected :hairman. and in acknowledging the jompliment, he reviewed the Edu•.ation work of the district. The Sducation Department notified that i grant of £2150 had been authorised for the erection of a new ichool at Pahiatua. In answer to a juestion by Mr Vile, it was stated iy the chairman that plans were low in course of preparation for ;he new school at Pahiatua, The Government also notified that a jrant of £B6 9s 4d had been made for the equipment of science classes it Pahiatua District High School, -tome discussion took place upon the ipplication of the Carterton School Committee for the approval of the icceptance of copies of the Lord's ?rayer from Mr Coleman Phillips, eventually it was decided that the Board give*its'"approval. In referjpce to a complaint which had been nade in regard,to the school reserve it Makuri being useo* for grazing itock, explanation was received from the School Committee, and it was lecided that: no further action be ;aken. The School Commissioners tdvised that they were prepared to .ransfer 2 roods 5 perches to the 3oard for additions to tbe school site it Lansdowne, on condition that the 3oard paid expenses of altering the joundaries; This was agreed to. Tfce Chairman announced that the Educa,ion Department had notified that :or any buildings destroyed by fite >ver twenty years of age the Board would be required to provide a por;ion of the cost of the erection. It was decided to authorise the Chairnan and Secretary to take out Jnlurancea on old school buildings in proportion .- to the liability of the Board. As the Hinemoa residents lid not agree to provide the raininum salary required by the reguations no appointment was made to hat district;
