ALLEGED BLACKMAIL.
DISCLOSURES DURING A TRIAL. (By Itelegraph,—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Last Night. ' In a case heard in the Supreme Court, in which a young man was charged with a sexual offence, it was stated that he was a victim of personal weakness. He had been in communication with "quacks" in Australia, who professed to cure such diseases. Correspondence was handed to the Chief Justice, who, after perusing it, remarked that the letter contained a deliberate attempt to blackmail the young fellow. He suggested that it should be forwarded to the Commissioner of Police in Sydney. Accused's counsel stated that £lB had been extracted from the young man.
