CALEDONIAN ENTERTAINERS.
The Caledonian Entertainers opened a two-night season in the Masterton Town Hail last night to an audience whicn, though not as large as it should have been, was most demonstrative in its aplaause. The entertainment provided waa unique in its way, being a combination of genuine mirth and humour with higk-c]ass Scottish music. The performance of the Pipe Band, prior to the entertainment, was of such a meritorious character as to appeal to the national sentiment of Scotsmen generally. Mr Jock Willis, the comedian of the company, created intense amusement by his character sketches and national songs, and, needless to say, was vociferously encored. Miss C. O'Keefe, who will be remembered as a member of the Pollard Opera Company, contributed several pleasing numbers, her rich contralto voire being to distinct advantage. Miss Rita Brennan, the soprano of the Company, has a a voice of exceptional purity and wide range, and she created a most favourable impression. Mr U. Cameron's tine tenor voice was well placed in his rendition of "Annie Laurie," and he had to respond to an imperious recall. The Highland dancing and piping of Messrs McDonald and SJaffray was a feature of the entertainment, and provoked loud applausa. The Entertainsrs worthily sustain their name, and they are deserving of the support of the public. A final entertainment will be given in the Town Hall this evening, when there will be an entire change of programme.
