ALLEGED IMPUDENT THEFT.
AGAINST A MASTERTON YOUNG MAN. i I ■ :
Arthur Jones, who was charged en remand at the Magistrate's Court at Masterton yesterday with being an idle and disorderly person and with having no lawful visible means of support, was lurther charged with the theft of £2 10s from Margaret Knight, starekeeper, of Gladstone. Mr Cullen, who appeared for accused, said that this was the first they had heard of the charge of theft. Sergeant Miller, in asking for a further remand, outlined the circumstances of the case. He stated that the accused, his brother, and another man, had gone into the shop, of informant at Gladstone and asked for some cloth. They also as,ked fcr a cup of tea. It was alleged that whilst informant was attending to the kettle the accused, who Knew the run of the shop, rifled the till of its contents, which amounted to £2 103.
Hia Worship granted a remand till Tuesday next, bail being allowed as before.
