PAHIATUA.

The recent rains have raised the Mangatainoka river and other streams in the Forty-Mile Bush district. The low lying country in ihe vicinity is partially flooded. The first annual social and dance of the Pahiatua Central branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, to be held in Pabiatua on Wednesday next, the 24th inst., promises to eclipse anything of its kind yet held in the district. A large number of invitations have been issued, and a record gathering is anticipated. The secretary of the branch, Mr J. A. Walsh, is in receipt of a telegram from the Hon. T. McKenzie, Minister for Agriculturs, intimating his intention of being present. Other members of Parliament expected to put in an appearance are Messrs R. B. Ross and A. W. Hogg.
