The Gazette contains an official notificatioa of the appointment of the Rev. H. Watson as chaplain of the Masterton Rifles. The resignation of Captain H. C. L, Robinson, cf his command of the Masterton Rifles, is announced in this week's Gazette. Mrs H. H. Holmes, of Master ton, was defeated by Miss Wilson in the second round of *he Ladies' Golf Championship at Christchurch yesterday. | Lieiten nt Brighting is at present in command of the Masterton Rifles pending a sucessor being appointed to replace Captain H. C. L. Robinson, who has resigned and baen placed on the active uo-attached list.
