MEETING OF COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the General Committee of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society was held at Cartertun on Monday, and was well attended. Mr W. Howard Booth waa in the chair. • A vote of thanks was accorded the New Zealand Sheepbreedera' Association for presenting the championship shield to be competed for in ■ English Leicester ewe class at the forthcoming Show. As the previous allotment of the Wellington Racine Club's donation of £lO did not meet with the approval of that body's executive, it waa decided to devote it to two classes—.(l.) Mare best calculated to breed army remounts; (2) horse most suitable as a remount horse, not exceeding 15.3 hands, up to 13 stone. The Society will also add prizes to each class. The secretary to his Excellency the Governor wrote acknowledging an invitation to Lord Islington to attend the Show, and asking that same be renewed two months later. It was reported that probably Holstein bulls, and heifers from the Government Experimental Farm would be exhibited at the forthcoming Show. Mr Reakes, chief of .the Government Veterinary department, wrote accepting an invitation to the Show and smoke concert, and offering to speak at the latter on matters of interest to dairymen. Letters were received from agents and proprietors of milking machines, and it was decided to quote £1 far space, and to erect suitable stalls. It was announced that practically the wholeuf the judges' positions had been filled. The treasurer reported a debit balance of £5lO Is sd; outstanding amounts from 1908-9, £7,8 19s 6d. Accounts amounting to £l3 153 5d were passed for payment. Seventeen new members were elected. The judge of draught horses at the last Show, Mr J. A. Alexander, returned his feeß to the Society, and they were allotted as a points prize in the draught horse class.
