YOUNG MAN BITES HIS SWEETHEART'S NOSE.

The girl wanted the case withdrawn. ; Sub-Inspector Hendry: *ihat's so; I don't. Its a brutal assault. I have got plenty of evidence ot what took place. Evidence was given by the young lady that ihe accused came to hsr house on Sunday night to see fcer. They had a little bit of trouble oyer a misunderstanding about a letter, and accused held her head back and bit her nose*' ■•■. : ,V' J Cross-examined, witness said sne. ■ did not think the accused would hart j her intentionally; * ; :';''.. i "'lf the police are going to interest themselves in'« every lover's quarrel, said- Mr Hackett, "then I submit their hands are going to be full for quite a long time." The accused swore that he had had uo intention of injuring the girl. The Bench were satisfied that an assault had been committed. It was evident the girl was sheltering ths young fellow, and they sympathised with her. On every count the case was proved. A fine of £2 and costs, with an alternative of a month's imprisonment was imposed.
