"INANIMATE THINGS.
The Shearers' Accommodation Amendment Bill, introduced by Mr D. McLaren, M.P., provides, amongst other things, that "inanimate things should be kept in a healthy state." Jo his speech in Masterton to-night Mr McLaren will probably explain how he proposes maintaining the health of these "inanimate things." The clause in his Bill
which provides that "no dogs shall be chained or kennelled within two hundred yards of any sleeping room," will commend itself to most people, though why the domestic feline should be allowed to roam and caterwaul at its sweet will, one can hardly understand!
