WELCOME SOCIAL.
TO REV. U. H. OLDS.
A welcome social was tendered last evening in the Methodist schoolroom to the Rev. C. H. Qlds, who has recently succeeded the Rev. C. E. Porter in the charge of the Masterton Methodist Church, and to Miss Olds Mr 6. Pragnell occupied the chair, and there was a crowded attendance of adherents of the Church and friends. The welcome took the form of a musical programme, interspersed with speeches by the chairman and Mr Perrin, on behalf of the circuit, Mr C. E. Darnell on behalf of the Church Trust; Mr A. Donald on behalf of the Sunday School, Mr E. JR. Wilson on behalf of the youth of the Church, Mr A. Minifie on behalf of the local preachers, and Mr Harris on behalf of the Kuripuns branch of the Church. Mr Olds replied in a fitting speech. Musical items Were contributed by an effi cient orchestra; solos reudered, by Messrs Olds, Mannell, and Crhistie, a quartette by Misses Joy and Judd, and Messrs Joy ai/d Ralph, and a recitation by Miss Winnie Danisll. Refreshments were provided by the ladies, and a most enjoyable, evening was brought to a close with votes of thanks to the orchestra, the ladies, and the chairman.
