AMUSEMENTS.
TOWN HALL PICTURES.
The programme which has been presented for the last two nights at the Town Hall will be repeated tonight for the last time. Those who have seen it pronounce it a "gem." The dramas and scenery are well above the average, whilst the comics are the genuine, side-splitting article. The description of the first aeroplane flight in Australia is full of interest. To-morrow afternoon and eve ling there will be an entire change of programme, when something startling is promised Nominations for the children a beauty competition close on Saturday. Already over twenty photographs have been sent in, and these in themselves testify that the public will be set a difficult task in selecting the prettiest child in Masterton.
THOMPSON—PAYNE PICTURES.
The Foresters' Hall was wpII filled last night, when the new programme of pictures was presented by Messrs . Thompson and Payne. This series is well chosen, giving a good variety of subjects, all of which are stars in their clas3. "Volendam" is a splendid picture, depicting quaint Dutch life and customs. A fine study is produced in a picture of the French naval station "Toubn." Among tbe dramatic series, pride of place must be given to the pictorial adaption of Richard Harding's famous book, "Hansom's Folly." Lovers of Cha's. Dicken's. works have the latest version of "Oliver Twist" depicted in an art film by Pattie Frerep, and the old story has not lost its charm, judging by the applause which greeted it. "The Cup-Tie Final, Newcaste v. Burnsley," shows soccer football as it is played by the champions of England. The comic films proved extremely funny, and caused great laughter. This excellent collection uf films will be produced again this evening. .
