BRITISH CIVIL SERVICE.
INTERESTING RETURNS. Received Auguit 5, 1.15 p.m. LONDON, August 4. Returns show that since the year 1906 the Government has awarded 873 positions in the Civil Service without examinations taking place. The persons so appointed; draw in salaries the sum of £239,775 annually.
