TOWN HALL PICTURES.
The large gathering wUch assembled in the Tuwn Hall last night to witness the "Living New Zealand" programme which Messrs Hay- lt ward, Clark aid Vile have secured for a-short season, was a flattering compliment to the proprietors and a striking testimony to the patriotism . (f the people. The applause which greeted each item as it was thrown , upon the screen' was evidence of the thorough appreciation of, the audience. The New Zealand pictures, were introduced by a series of charmirg scenic and other films, not the least interesting of which was a pourtrayal of life in (he Indian Empire, The views of life on a Wai- j rarapa sheep sta'ion, and of the mail train making its ascent of thei Rimutaka Incline were realistic. The description of a Carnival at Rotorua showed geysers: playing, the Maori maidens dancing bakas, and the splendid sight of the Huku Falls and Aratiatia Rapids, all combining to make a scene as impressive, as it was weird and novel. The film describing the rock-bound coast of New Zealand was particularly interesting. Lord Kitchener inspecting the Scouts and Cadets in Dunedir, and reviewing the troups in Sydney were splendid films. The scenes depicting the Italian Navy were watched with much interest, as were also the various dramas presented. The programme was brought to a fitting close with the funny Incidents attending the betiothal of the inimitable FooJhead. 'Jhe "Livit g New Zealand" pictures will be repeated this afternoon and evening, and will-be shown again on Friday and Saturday, with a change of programme. Ttie season premises to be a very, successful one.
