A great meeting of Socialists at Madrid protested against troops going to Bilbao in connection with the strike there alleging that the authorities were favouring the employ-
ers. The speakers threatened a general strike.
I ENGLISH RAILWAY MEN, GRAVE UNREST. Received August 2. 10.5 a.m. LONDON, August 1. There is grav2 unrest among railway workers, particularly on the Great Northern and Great Eastern lines.
The North-Eastern men are dissatisfied with Lord MacDonnpll's and Lord Gorrell's awards, and the companies' interpretation in regard to discharged firemen at Durham.
RIOTING AT TORONTO. Recieved August 2, 10 s.rr. OT'LAWA, Auerust 1. Troops have left Toronto and London for Bridgeborg, whde riots, as an outcome of the Grand Trunk railway strike, are in progress.
