HIGH SCHOOL TO BE RESTORED.

The Palhierstoii High School Board toriiight approved of plans for a new High School building, to replace that burned down by Pawel :a. The plans are by Mr Cleie, architect, of Wel'Jiig'oo, a:,d provide fir a brick building containing"nine class rooms, including a science room 24 x 32, and other class rooms from 24 by 22 to 24 by 24. in addition there are lavatory, store room, offices, and it is prcp-scd to endeavour to include a £.crnjol§hali 30 by BO feet with the money made available by trie Gov vernment, as all the accommodation pnssible is needed. The frontage is 150 feet and the depth 70 feet, and the material ia to be brick.

The Manawatu Rugby Union confirmed the following dates to-night for matches in Palmerston:—Versus Wairarapa, August 10th; Hawke's Bay, August 17th; Wanganui, September 3rd;, Manawatu also plays Horowhenua A team at Levin August 13ih, and a B and A junior team of Horowhenua on the same day at Palmerston. There was a considerable discussion on the Manawatu Union to-night as tojjthe treatment of the representative team which was specially invited to play Taranaki at Hawera during the Dominion Show. No representatives of the Taranaki Uniun met. the team, which was given very unsuitable accommodation that knocked the team up. By way of compensation the secretary of the Hawera Club was understood to be acting for the Taranaki Union It was agreed'to treat the team as Union guests during the time at Hawera by paying their board, but his action was now repudiated by the Taranaki Union, which required the team to pay its own fcibaroV The Dominion Show Committee also declined to ailiw the team'to its smoke concert, though it had come up as an attraction to the Show! It was decided to communicate with the Taranaki Union on the subject.-
