ART EXHIBITION.

meeting of the general COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the General Committee appointed for the purpose of making the necessary arrangements for the holding ot an Art Exhibition in the; Technical School on Wednesday and Thursday, 3rd and 4th Au&us waß held in the Technical School, at 4 pm. yesterday afternoon. There wete present —Mr E, Feist, chairman, Mrs H. T. Wood, Mteses Prior, Darnell, and Munro, Messrs W. H. Beetham, W. H. Jackson, C. N. Haslam C. E. Daniell, E. P. Fentn , Dean McKenna, and the Secretary. Apologies for absence weie received on behalf of Mrs Waidell, Miss Wolff, Dr. Cook, and Mr P. L. Hollings. Mr Jackson reported that he would have about twenty pictures avai'able for the purposes of the exhibition, six or eight of which would be oil'.

Dr. Cook wished to be informed as to whether it was intended to restrict the exhibition entirely to pictures and works of a similar character. It was decided that the exhibition be of a general character, including other branches of art besides pictures. , Dean McKenna, Dr. Cook, Mr W. H. Beetham reported having pictures available for the exhibition.

"Ihe Ladies' Committee was given full power to make all arrangements ror the providing of afternoon tea on Wednesday, 3rd August. The Secretary! was instructed to write to the Director of the Wellington Technical School asking what works he has'on hand which might be made available for the exhibition,

such as repousse work copper brass or leather. It was decided that .the Ladies' Committee meet at the Technical School on Tuesday next, 26th inst., at 4 p.m.. All members of the General Com mittee are requested to make up their lists of articles for exhibition; and hand same in to the Secretary on Friday next, 29th inst. The following ladies and gentlemen were appointed a hanging committee —Mrs Wood, Miss Prior, Miss Daniell, and°Messrs Fenton, Daniell, Jackson, F. E. Lam'u, Haslam, Dean MoKenna, and the Secretary. After deciding to ' hold the next meeting in the Technical School, at i 4 p.m. on Friday, 29th inst, the j meeting adjourned.
