PAHIATUA NEWS.
Own Correspondent. Sunday, An Age reporter, in conversation with the coach proprietor of Mskari on Saturday, learned that the roads/ .between Makuri and Pahiatua were in a bad state, Three slips, one in the Gorge, and two this sids, have occurred. The coach has not been able to get through Pongaroa r or a week, it is hoped to get the slips cleared by Monday, however. The Mangatainoka River has overflowed its banks. All the flat around Konini ia under water, and the farmers are complaining about the loss of sheep. A young man is alleged to have robbed one of the servants at the Post Office Hotel, and left Pahiatua by the last,train on Friday night for Masterton. Constable Tanner lost no time in communicating with the Masterton police, and the man was arrested in Masterton the same night by Constable Dunn, and taken back to Pahiatua on Saturday morning.
