Own Correspondent. Thursday. Mr W. Fisher is representing the Taratahi and Belvedere Dairy Companies at the conference uf the North Island Dairy Association at Hawera. Mr R. 0. Jarrett, of Masterton, has been appointed judge of the utility class at the South Wairarapa Poultry Association's annual show to be held here on Wednesday and Thursday next. A septic tank and sewerage service has just been installed at the Clareviile State School, the co3t running into between £6O and £7o.The committee went guarantee for tha amount, which is being* raised by subscriptions and entertainments.
Bro. E. Martin, who has held the position of treasurer of Totara Lodge for some time has resigned the position on account of his approaching departure from here. The lodge has decided to place his name upon the merit board. Bit. W. Baillie has been appointed to the vacancy. ■ i The social to have taken piace this evening under the auspices of St, Mark's Church has been postponed until l'riday week. Some twenty-one Shropshire cross larahs are to be seen skipping about on Mr W. Fisher's farm at Ciartville. They are about tha first of tha season. o'i Thursday evening next a meeting is to be held at Carterton under the auspices of the South Wairarapa Poultry Association, with the object of forming an egg-circle. Some members of the Masterton Circle will be present to explain the working of the circle. Close on 400 entries have been received for the South Wairarapa Poultry Show, to be held on Wednesday and Thursday next. The total is about fifty in excess of last year, and the record of the Associa tion. The Foresters defeated t* e lows in the United Friendly tournament last evening by 18 earner to 17. A meeting of the Court Marquis of Normanby, A.0.F., was held last evening, Bro. F. D.ixjn presided. Five members were reported upon the aioK fund. An invitation for a visit was received from Court Wairarapa, Greytown, at a date to be arranged. Bro. R. Banks was Installed C.R. Two new members ware initiated, and two friends proposed far membership. Mr W. Howard Booth had fi valuable sheep worried to death last night by dog?. Kis stud sheep were in tha adjoining paddock, but fortunately the wandering canines did not find their way there. Mr Booth has decided to safeguard his flock by laying poieon for dogs on his Carxringlon property. Mr J. Gayfer hag presented a gold medal to tha Dalefield Fooball Club to be awarded to the best player. Mr William Henry Turley, of Carterton, labourer, was yesterday ad* judged bankrupt. The first meeting of creditors will be held here on Tuesday next. The South Wairarapa Poultry Association has decided to hold a smoke concert on Wednesday evening next.
