COMPENSATION.
NEW SOUTH WALES MEASURE. United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph Copyright. Received July 14, 10.15 a.m. SYDNEY, July 14, An amended Workers' Compensation Bill has been introduced in the New South Wales Parliament by the Premier, Mr Wade. It defines a "workman" to mean any person of any age or either sex who, under contract to an employer, made before or after the commencement of the Act, is engaged in manual labour.
Compensation where death results and dependents are left wholly Jdependent on deceased's earnings at tbe time of death, is fixed at a sum equal to deceased's earnings for the three years preceding, or two hundred pounds, which ever amount is the larger. In a case where there are no dependents compensation covers medical and burial expenses, not exceeding £l2. f In case of total or partial incapacity after tbe second week, payment of a sum not exceeding 50 per centum of the ordinary weekly wage, with a maximum cf a pound weekly, the total liability not to exceed one hundred pounds. Employers will not be liable where the injury does not disable the workmen for a period of at least two weeks, or in respect to injuries directly attributable to his own serious or wilful misconduct.
