CYCLIST KILLED.
PEDESTRIAIv BADLY INJURED. An accident of an unusually serious nature took place on Saturday evening at Island Bay, Wellington, resulting fatally to Roy Cornish. Cornish, who 'Js about sixteen years of age, v»as going home on his bicycle about 6.30 p.m. Mr Charles Arthur Fenton, retired bank manager, and his wife, were walking along the road to their house at West Beach When opposite the new recreation ground they someone shout budly, "Look 0it!" bat before they had time to" Ret out of the way Coinish had crashed into Mr Fenton, throwing him violently to the ground. Cornish was flung frum his machine, hitting the roadway heavily. Both were unconscious and in danger of being run over by a tramcar, but Mrs Fenton succeeed In pulling them off the line. Assistance was then summoned, and the sufferers were then attenred to. Mr Fenton was removed 10 Dr. Deamer's residence in an unconscious condition suffering from concussion and several iiiolcen ribs. He regained consciousness on Sunday, and appeared to be progressing Javourably, but he will be incapacitated for seme time. Coriiith was in a bad way when nicked up, bleeding from the rose find ears, He was removed to the hospital, where he was fcund to be suffering from a serious fracture of the base of tha skull, fl'is case seemed hopeless from the commencement, aid though everything possible was done he died at the institution on Sunday, it is stated that nr 11 her Mrs Fenton nor her husband heard a bell,' while it is said that there was no lamp on the bicycle, and that Cornish was travelling at a very fast psce.
