After hearing a deputation representing the Ministers' Association and the. business men of the. city, asking the Chambar of Commerce to urse the Government to abolish tfre legalised bookmakers, the Chamber agreed lo do so. A res lution containing the expression of opinion that all betting on racecourses and in public streets be made a misdemeanour without the option of a fine, was also carried.
