FEDERAL POLITICS.
LABOUR MINISTRY CRITICISED. THE NORTHERN TERRITORY. United Press Electric Telegraph Lopyrigkt. Received July 10, 8.45 p.m. LONDON, July 10. The Times, discussing the Australian new Ministry, says it seems to have gained public confidence to an unusual degree, a fact greatly due to Mr Fisher and his colleagues avoiding the unusual things which the crit cs predicted they would propose. The new uniform federal postal rates wt-re presumably a prelude to an Imperial Penny Postage. There waa need for a rapid awakening of Australian public opinion with regard to the Northern Territory. Ou this vital issue Australian politicians should realise that they were merely stewards for the rest of the world. They could more effectively occupy the Northern Territory if Mr Fisher's Ministry carried the Northern and Southern railways towards completion, and this was a matter which amply deservid the confidence of the people.
