TOBACCONISTS' GRIEVANCES.
By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 8. Mr W. Simpson, one of the local delegates of the Tobacconists' conference at Wellington, stated in an interview that on the subject of the sale of tobacco, cigars, and cigarettes in hotels the Tobacconists conference received a letter from the New Zealand Licensed Victualiers' Association, in which the tobacconists were at>ked to get a statutory provision made to the eifect that "no hotelkteper shall be allowed to stock or sell cigarettes or tobacco, but that hotelekeepers be allowed to keep cigars for the use of guests only." The conference was quit? satisfied with this, and a copy of the letter was given to the Minister, who undertook to place it before the Cabinet when the subject was under consideration.
