The Masterton Chesa Club has just, received from tho adjudicator, Mr Mason, of Wellington, the results of the unfinished games between them and the Lower Vailey players. Out ; of eight games two were won by the 1 jcal men, one was lost, while one resulted in a draw. , Of the four unfinished games, Mr Maunsell is given a win over Mr Connell, the other three being given in favour of Masterton. Mr Maursell has the honour of beiig the first player to put down Mr Connell in a telegraphic in a period ot 20 years. .Masterton, therefore, c,jm3s oil of the contest better than wss expected, games Nos. 1 and 2 being looked upon as draws, and No. 5 as a loss. A win for each side at boards! and 2 evens things up aS far aa they are concerned, but a win at No 5, where a loss was anticipated puts the local men ahead one point more than j was expected.
