Own Correspondent. I Saturday. ] Skating is becoming a popular pastime in Carterton. j A dance in aid of the hall funds is to be held at ClareviSle on Tuesday evening. Carrington Park has been further beautified "of late by a number of trees and shrubs presented ana planted by Mr Coleman Phillips. A meeting of tbe Belvedere School' Committee is to be beld on Monday evening. A practice 'was held in the local Reseive on Saturday afternoon by a number of local footballers. Last evening Mr W. J. Read-, billiardist, gave an exposition in the Magpie Saloon. A game of 750 up was playtd between Messrs Read and J. Spora, tbe former conceding 400 points. The final scores of the game were— Read 750, and Spora 643. The former's best breaks duringthe game, were , 170, 90, 80, and 70, while breaks of 50 were not unusual. Recently Mr O. P. Lynch, of Emerald Glen,; Paikakariki, purchased from Mr W. B. Allen, - of Clareville, a Romney ram -guineas. His fleece weighed 22|lbs, a nice, clean sound wool, not heavy in grease, and the ram crme out of tbe wool a really nice symmetrical sheep. ■
