FIRE IN CANTERBURY.
TWENTY-ROOMED HOUSE LAMAGED. By Telegraph—Press Association, .. CHRISTCHURCH, June 18. A fire occurred this morning in tbe upstairs portion of the residence of Mr Geo. Gerard, at Fendalton. *lne house was a wooden one, of , .twentj rooms. The Brigade turned out promptly with a steam engine, and after hard work tbe fire was , confined to the upper floor, although 1 tbe other rooms and, the furniture were considerably damaged by water and removal. The house was insured ' for £2,500, and the furniture for "£SOO, in the Royal Assurance Cona<pany.
