KOPUARANGA NOTES.
Own Correspondent. Tuesday. A kind of aphis is attacking Californian thistle and the biddi-bid, and within the last six weeks has completely withered the thistle down. The farmers intend watching the blight closely in the spring, for if u only survives the frosts and attacks the tender leaves again in the spring, as it has just done, Californian thistle will be a pest of the past. Mr Douglas, who has been dairy farming here foz a short time, leaves with-his family shortly for Konini. to follow up dairying there. The New Zealand Dairy Union Creamery closed down for the winter months on Thursday last, after a most successful season A strong committee of ladies is working energetically to complete arrangements for a plain and fancy dress ball, which takes place on Thursday.
