ROBBING PRISONERS OF MONEY AND LIBERTY. Received June 14, 10.30 a.m. NOUMEA, June 14. M Willemot, Governor of the Civil Prison, has been sentenced to five years' imprisonment, fined 200 francs, and deprived of his right to ever again hold aj public position, for keeping prisoners after their sentences had been served, and for the theft of gaol moneys. Sevemy-three charges were preferred against him. He converted money sent to prisoners to his own U3 , and when unable to pay it back, kept the prisoners immured beyond the time of the expiry of their sentence?. It is stated that Willemot, who is one of the bestkown citizens of Noumea, lost heavily at gambling.
