Own Correspondent. Saturday. Mr Morgan K temporarily filling the vacatrcy on tha teaching staff of the local High School, caused by the appointmant of Mr Id. Miller to Masterton. Adjutant Cook, of the local Salvation Army has just returned from a short holiday to Eltham, in the Taranaki district, The Salvation Army Boy's Home is doing grand work among the fatherless and motherless boys under their care. iVJr O. E. Hugo gave another of his entertaining lectures in the Methodist Schoolroom last evening, when there was a large attendance. The lecture was profusely illustrated, and the public delineation of several young ladie3 and gentlemen created much amusement. On Monday evening Mr Hugo is to give another lecture on "eyes." Tne local Borough Council has given notice of its intention to strike and ievy a general rate of a Id in the £, and a water rata of 5 per cant in the first £3OO. Mr O. K. Fairbrother has taken over the blacksmith and farriers' poition of Mr G. Hughan's business in Pembroke Street Mr Hughan intends devoting the whole of his time to the motor and cycle portion of the business,
