IN BANKRUPTCY.

ESTATE OF A. McKENZIE. A meeting of creditors in the estate of Alexander McKenzie. stockdealer, of Featherston, was held in the Masterton Courthouse on Saturday morning. Mr W. B. Chennells, D.0.A., presided, the creditors present being Messrs Dalgety and Co , Pinhey Bros., Ltd.. and the Masterton Farmers' Implement Co., Ltd. The following statement was made by bankrupt:—l am perfectly solvent, as you will see from my statement of assets and liabilities. My adjudication waR brought about through some speculation I entered into about three years ago, which caused me a loss of over £2OOO. I was hoping to i find sufficient ready cash to pay the various accounts making'up this sum by the completion of a project I had in view. Before, however, I could arrange matters I was served with a [ creditors' petition, a defence to which I did not file notice of as I believed I would have no trouble in settling. In this I was disappointed, and it being then tx> late to defend, the petition was heard in my absence and the order of adjudication made. Since the adjudicaion I have so farmy arrangements that I can now pay my creditors in full, without the Assignee haying recourse to my unconverted assets. The list of creditors I forward is, I belieive, a complete one, and the balance of cash required over and above thi amount lyir'g to my credit at the banK at the date of my bankruptcy will be in the hands of my solicitor, Mr Card, if not by the day of the first meeting, Jlth June, then with- , in a very few days afterwards. The liabilities were shovvn to amount to £1,667. 2s lOd. Mr Chennells stated that £1,465 had been lodged on account, and deb- i tor asked for a little time in which to find the remainder of the money , owing by him. H: sugg Q sted the! meeting adjourn, and th it a fortnight be allowed in wnich to find the rest of the money, under £3OO. On the motion of Dalgety and by Pinhey Bros., that upon pajirn nt "f twenty shillings in theiJ, the <.■<■ <i". jrs recommend that the bankruptcy be annulled. The motion was carried, and the proceedings closed.
